Last Call for History Legacy Grants
The final small grant deadline for legacy-funded Minnesota Historical & Cultural Grants is Friday October 29, 2010. There were 63 applications received requesting $338,891 for the September deadline, which means that there are still limited funds available. Contact the Grants Office for free help in shaping projects to meet guidelines.

Traveling Exhibit - deadline extended one week!
Be the first to host a traveling exhibit from the Minnesota Historical Society. Sites are chosen through a competitive process. Don't delay! Applications are now due Friday October 8, 2010. Upload applications electronically to the Drop Box, just like applying for grants.

Student Research Assistance Available
The 2011 Community Assistantship Program allows rural Minnesota communities to hire a student to work on a project defined by those communities. Proposals due October 30, 2010. Approved projects will run from January 13 to May 29, 2011. Winning communities will review job applications and select the student who best meets their needs.

Alderson Internship
Institutional members of the American Association for State and Local History with operating budgets under $250,000 may apply for funding from AASLH to pay an intern to work at their organization. Applications due 5 p.m., December 10, 2010, at AASLH in Nashville.

Historical and Cultural Center of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center hosts a reception on The St. John's Bible, certainly bound to be historically significant as a work of art for our digital era. The event calls to mind that historical organizations are charged with collecting in the present so that evidence is preserved for the future.
