Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants

Track Legacy Funds Online
Lists of grants and grant recipients are available on the MHS website. See how the funds have been distributed over the past year, and what fantastic projects your colleagues are completing.

Final Reports
All the funding for the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants has been awarded; now many of our colleagues will be working on their projects throughout the winter and spring. Don't forget that the last requirement for the grants program is submitting a final report with a copy of the final product (oral history transcripts or Historic Structures Report, for example) and photographs. 

All projects must be completed and final reports submitted by June 30, 2011. Contact the with any questions relating to your grant's progress.

Field Note

Michael Fox

Minnesota Historical Society announced that has been named to serve as the Society’s Interim Director, effective Monday January 3, 2011, following the retirement of current Director Nina Archabal. It is expected that the director post will be filled permanently by summer 2011.

Fox joined the Minnesota Historical Society in 1987 as Head of Processing and was named Director of Library, Publications and Collections in 2000. He has served as Deputy Director for Programs since 2005, guiding many of the Society’s 26 functions including the State Historic Preservation Office and Local History Services. In 2010, Fox assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer, overseeing every aspect of the Society’s operations.

Prior to joining the Society, Fox served in a variety of roles at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. He holds a Masters of Library Science and a B.A. in American History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
