Preapplications are due October 7, 2011 for mid- and large size Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants. Applications must be submitted via the new grants portal and must be received before midnight on the deadline date. Questions? Contact the Grants Office.

VIDEO: Spray Room Installation

With help from the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants the Winona County Historical Society retrofitted an old coal room into a compatible reuse as a spray room where the intake has been reversed to exhale.

Statewide Preservation Plan
State Historic Preservation Office drafted a new statewide preservation plan, "A New Season, Preservation Plan for Minnesota's Historic Properties, 2012-17," and seeks comments on the draft. Comments must be written and received in by October 26, 2011.

MALHM Meeting
Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums will hold their annual meeting on Friday October 28, 2011 in St. Cloud MN.

In "Museum Admission as an Expression of Mission," Claire Ruud discusses museum pricing structures and how admission prices tie into mission.

Field Note

Morrison CHS anniversary

Morrison County Historical Society, Little Falls MN, celebrated its 75th anniversary on Sunday September 18, 2011 at the Royalton American Legion with a program on the history of the Kiewel Brewery. Guest speaker was Chris Anderson, longtime collector of Kiewel memorabilia, with assistance from MCHS board member Gary Block.
