Legacy Fund in Jeopardy?
In a recent media report, a member of the Minnesota House floated the possibility of using funds from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund/Legacy funds to pay for the proposed Vikings stadium. While this concept is contrary to both the intent of the voters and the language of the constitutional amendment, it is being considered and should be taken seriously.

Please take a few moments to call your House and Senate members at their office, home, or both to express your thoughts about using Legacy funds for a Vikings stadium. If you are not able to talk to your legislators directly and need to leave a phone message, please also send them an email to state your opinion. Make sure to mention that you are a constituent. Thank you for your help.

Grants Updates
Now that the Legacy grants are back in full swing, the Grants Office has plenty to keep themselves busy:

• Minnesota Historical Society Executive Committee meets this week to make final approval on 69 applications submitted for the September small grants round.
• Staff is diligently completing review of the 116 mid and large size pre-applications that were due earlier this month and will send comments back to applicants shortly.
• Review of 60 applications received for the October small grants round will begin soon.

Looking ahead, for those organizations that submitted pre-applications for the mid and large grants round, final applications are due Friday November 18, 2011. Historic Resources Advisory Committee meets December 19-20, 2011 to make determinations on those applications.
