Small Grants Update Staff has begun review of 78 applications from the October 2011 Fast Track grants round. The next deadline for small grants will be January 13, 2012.
Mid and Large Grants Update Staff has completed review of 115 pre-applications for the Fall mid and large grants round and emailed review comments to applicants. Final applications are due by end of day Friday November 18, 2011. Questions on your pre-application comments? Historic Masonry Mobile Workshop Led by Robert Mack, FAIA, of MacDonald & Mack Architects, this practical training session uses various downtown Faribault buildings to provide viewers with an understanding of historic masonry restoration practices and the methods and techniques used for evaluating, restoring and repointing historic masonry.

Minnesota Local History fans came through, bringing our numbers up to 681! That's a respectable jump of seven people in one week. In the news: Washington County Historical Society's new building plans, the role of government in preserving local history, MHS Director Steve Elliott out and about in southwestern Minnesota.

Planning and Growing Mower County Historical Society, Austin MN, started a Lunchbox History Series this year, to rave reviews. The July program brought in 55 people, and the one in August (pictured) drew a whopping 113!
In order to continue being relevant for the community, MCHS now seeks input on its recently completed strategic plan draft. The plan is meant to guide the historical society's operations and goals from 2013 to 2018. Executive Director Dustin Heckman seeks public input--please respond by November 30, 2011.
