Coombe Re-elected
Representatives of the Participating Member Organizations, who share space in the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center, re-elected JoAnne Coombe, executive director of St. Louis County Historical Society, Duluth MN, to serve as representative to the board of the Historic Union Depot Corporation for 2012.

Tribal National Park
Red Cliff Chippewa in Wisconsin are creating the nation's first tribally-owned national park. Frog Bay Tribal National Park, near the Apostle Islands in northern Wisconsin, is expected to open to the public in August 2012.

Civil War Resource
U.S. Naval Landing Party, a Civil War reenactment group, is publishing online news of the Civil War in 1860s style.

Please join the Minnesota State Historic Preservation Office in welcoming Barbara Mitchell Howard as the new head of the Historic Preservation, Field Services and Grants Department. Barbara replaces Britta Bloomberg, who retired at the end of 2011. She comes here from Iowa, where she served as deputy SHPO for the State Historic Preservation Office of Iowa. She has extensive knowledge of state and federal historic preservation laws and regulations as well as experience with grants administration. Welcome Barbara!
