Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants

New MHCG web site
web siteThe Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants web site has a new look and new web address. It now has a multi-step feature to help guide the user through the grant process, featured awarded grants and Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants news. Not ready to make the move to the new site? No problem, we are leaving the old site up until May.

Last Call for Small Grants!
The last Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants small grants deadline for fiscal year 2012 will be Friday March 23, 2012. Funding is very limited with approximately $65,000 available. Contact the Grants Office with questions about submitting your project proposal.

County Count
The statewide reach of the grants program has reached 58 counties for this biennium, so far. The following 29 counties have yet to receive a grant in the FY 2012-2013 biennium:

The Photo and Art Database, also known as the Visual Resources Database is moving into Collections Online. With an updated search interface, users have the ability to search for photographs, three dimensional and archaeological objects, artwork, oral histories, moving images, maps, and more!

IMLS Grant Changes
Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is recommending several changes to its grant programs for the FY 2013 budget cycle. They will also streamline the grants process with one grant application deadline for all IMLS museum programs, January 15, 2013. See the IMLS website for more details.


Museum Survey
Minnesota Association of Museums, with assistance from the University of Minnesota's Tourism Center, has launched a comprehensive survey of museums in Minnesota. Results will help demonstrate the economic importance of the museum sector. Please complete the survey--it will take less than five minutes! Deadline: March 1, 2012.
