Small Grants Deadline
Reminder: the final small grants deadline for fiscal year 2012 (ending June 30, 2012) is this Friday March 23, 2012. 
Funding is very limited with approximately $65,000 available. Contact the Grants Office with questions about submitting your project proposal.

Northfield Historical Society, Northfield MN, reports that they continue to research the identity of the skeleton held in their collections. Could it be that of gang member Clell Miller?

Field Note

Ice lanterns at night near the Flight 307 memorial.
On March 7, 2012, fifteen ice lanterns were lit in memory of Flight 307 near its new memorial in south Minneapolis. Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 307 crashed on March 7, 1950, during a snowstorm, killing ten passengers, three crew, and two children on the ground. Mark Kaplan has been working with a variety of interested parties to preserve the memory of this tragic event.
