Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants

MHCG Update
With the first year of the 2012-2013 biennium wrapping up, here's a Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants program summary:

  • Small grants: 380 applications requesting $2.2 million; the remaining Fast Track awards will be considered by MHS Council in the coming weeks. Final number of awards will be available at that time.
  • Mid/large grants: 101 applications requesting $8.3 million; 59 grants awarded totaling $3.8 million.

Statewide Representation
In the interest of following the Minnesota State Legislature's direction, the Grants Office hopes to have at least one awarded grant in each of our 87 counties in the state by the end of fiscal year 2013. To date, 68 counties have received awards. Two years ago at mid-biennium the program had made awards in 56 counties, and did make an award in each county during that biennium. Counties yet to apply or receive a grant in this biennium:

Chisago
Faribault
Kanabec
Lincoln
