| Cultural Data Project Launches in Minnesota | | Minnesota has become the 12th state to join the Cultural Data Project. The launch will allow the state’s arts, cultural, and historical sectors to begin using hard data to make the case for their impact throughout the state. The Cultural Data Project is an online management, research, and advocacy tool for the arts and cultural sector.
- It helps history, arts and cultural organizations measure, track, and understand their financial and program data;
- Provides researchers and advocates with accurate, comprehensive data to make the case for arts and culture; and,
- Helps grantmakers better understand the impact of their funding in their community.
The Cultural Data Project is an emerging national standard for data collection in the arts and cultural sector, with 13,000 nonprofits in 12 states and the District of Columbia participating. Across the country, it’s helping cultural groups, grantmakers, and researchers move beyond words to make a fact-based case for the importance of arts and culture to individuals, economies, and communities. “The more we know about ourselves and our community,” said Steve Elliot, director and CEO of the Minnesota Historical Society, “the better we will serve Minnesotans, who care deeply about and have wholeheartedly supported arts, culture and history.”
