Legacy Amendment Updates

Grant Workshops Added
for limited remaining seats at workshops where you will learn about the Minnesota Cultural Heritage Grants and have an opportunity to work one-on-one with MHS staff to prepare proposals. Bring your project ideas, specifications, and a flash drive. 

Can't attend in person? Try a webinar. Participants will need to download free software in advance from a confirmation notice. Webinars are limited to 30, please RSVP. The first webinar is set for:

  • Monday October 12 at 10:00 a.m.

Grant Deadlines Set
Deadlines for the mid-size and large grant categories have been set for Fall 2009 and Spring 2010. Online applications will be accepted until the end of each deadline day.

Fall 2009:
Final applications are due Monday November 23, 2009
Most projects should be able to start in February 2010

Spring 2010: 
Pre-applications are due Monday March 8, 2010
Final applications due Monday April 12, 2010
Most projects should be able to start in July 2010

Fast Track grants have monthly deadlines on the last Friday of each month. The exception will be December's deadline, which will be Monday, December 28, 2009, due to the holiday.

Program Guidelines and Applications
Program guidelines and application forms for all three grant categories will be posted soon on the Minnesota Cultural Heritage Grants website. Questions can in the meantime be sent to the grants office staff.

Counting Web Users (1 comment) - There are multiple ways to measure online contacts, and which way to measure depends on the user's preferences. If organizations were to use online contacts to compare against one another, measurement would need to be standardized. How do you use web counts?

Winona County Historical Society's webcam keeps members and the public updated on the progress of their new addition. Their website is updated with a new photo every sixty seconds. Using this type of technology can keep tech-savvy patrons interested, and also provide a record of the process for the organization's archives.
