Update to Grant Workshops
for limited remaining seats at workshops where you will learn about the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants and have an opportunity to work one-on-one with MHS staff to prepare proposals. Bring your project ideas, specifications, and a flash drive.

Duluth Brown Bag
St. Louis County Historical Society presents Lunch with the History People on Thursday October 15, 2009 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Ruth Maney Room of the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center (the Depot). Presenter is photographer Tony Kuznik discussing "Reviewing the Art of Photography While Taking Photos in St. Louis County." Free; bring your brown bag lunch.

History Day 2010 Teacher Workshops
Minnesota History Day offers five workshops this fall to help educators implement History Day into their classrooms this school year:

  • October 19: Innovation in History
  • November 3: Ultimate History Day (also December 7)
  • December 8: Advanced Classroom Management
  • December 9: Category-Specific

Harvest Haunting

WWII Screening and Reception
In observance of Veterans Day and the 60th anniversary of Kristallnacht, Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, University of Minnesota and Jewish Historical Society of the Upper Midwest present a screening of "The Ritchie Boys" at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul, Thursday November 12, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. Free. Hear the story of young men who fled Nazi Germany, trained at Camp Ritchie in Maryland, and returned to Europe to fight the war in U.S. uniforms.

AASLH Call for Proposals
American Association for State and Local History and Oklahoma Museums Association will present their joint 2010 Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City OK, September 22-25, 2010. Theme is The Winds of Opportunity. Session proposals must be submitted on a Call for Proposals form and must be received by November 16, 2009.

AASLH Workshop Scholarships
American Association for State and Local History offers two scholarships to new professionals to attend a 2010 AASLH onsite workshop. Download application from AASLH. Deadline: December 21, 2009.

AASLH Workshop Diversity Fellowships

New Minnesota Journal
Minnesota's Heritage is a new semi-annual publication focusing on many aspects of Minnesota's rich heritage, from primary sources. The first issue will be available in January 2010.
