Minnesota's Greatest Generation Program
Randal Dietrich will present a program on Minnesota's experiences during World War II on Saturday November 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Foot Room of the Red Wing Public Library. Friends of the Library and Goodhue County Historical Society co-sponsor this free event. Program will include screening of several short films about members of Minnesota's Greatest Generation. Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission Bill
Two U.S. senators have introduced the "Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission Act of 2009" to establish a commission to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War from 2011-2015. The legislation includes authorization for funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities to award grants relating to the sesquicentennial.
