Legacy Amendment Updates

November Grant Deadlines
The Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants deadlines for November 2009 are quickly approaching. Mid-Size and Large Grants are due in the Grants Office on or before Monday, November 23, 2009. Small (Fast Track) grants are due Monday, November 30, 2009. 

ACHF Planning Meetings
There are still several Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund public input meetings set for November. Information available online. If you can't attend and would like your voice to be heard, complete an online survey.

First Minnesota Civil War Talk
White Bear Lake Area Historical Society hosts Robert Niemala who will speak on the First Minnesota during the Civil War. He will focus on the Mobile Campaign. Thursday November 12, 2009 7 p.m. at the Fillebrown House. Free event, but space is limited. Call 651-407-5327 or to register.

Beer & Wine Event
Hassan Area Historical Society has teamed up with Rogers Beer & Wine to offer a beer and wine tasting event on Thursday November 12, 2009 at 7 p.m. The historical society will speak on the history of Hassan Township, including a 15-minute preview of the new Hassan history DVD. Tickets are $15 available at Rogers Beer & Wine or at the door.

Film Screening
Denmark Township Historical Society invites the public to a screening of "Alaska Far Away," an award-winning film chronicling the story of Depression-era Midwesterners, including Minnesotans, who joined a New Deal program to colonize Alaska. Saturday November 14, 2009 at the Denmark Township Town Hall, 7 p.m. Free. For more information contact Valda, 651-436-3302.

Cold War Veterans' Remembrance
Veterans' Memorial Hall invites the public to the Cold War Veterans' Remembrance Dinner on Thursday November 19, 2009, 5 to 8 p.m. in the Great Hall of the St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center (the Depot), Duluth. Civil War Roundtable
Cannon Valley Civil War Roundtable will meet Thursday November 19, 2009, 7 p.m. at the Faribault Community Center, Faribault. Discussion will be on original slave documents. Call Jan, 507-244-0500 or Dan, 507-332-8250, for more information.


Richard Moe Retiring
Richard Moe, President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, recently announced that he will retire from his post in the spring. His seventeen-year tenure is the longest in the 60-year history of the Trust. Read more on NTHP's website.
