Grant Workshops "Writing a Better Grant Application" is a new workshop offered by the Grants Office staff. Learn to write strong project descriptions, establish compelling need and rationale, craft meaningful measurable outcomes, and articulate enduring value and sustainability in order to increase your project's competitiveness.
The workshops are free, about an hour long, and include time afterward to discuss your project(s) one-on-one with grants staff. Register by emailing the Grants Office.
Fast Track Deadline Friday The last small grant (Fast Track) deadline for FY 2010 is this week--Friday February 26, 2010. These grants are expected to resume with a May 28, 2010 deadline for FY 2011. Contact the Grants Office with questions.
Mid- and Large Size Grant Deadlines Pre-applications for the mid- and large size Minnesota Historical and Cultural grants are due Monday March 8, 2010. Use the same online application form as you would for the final application. Pre-applications should be as complete as possible. Final applications will be due Monday April 12, 2010. Questions? Contact the Grants Office.
Partnership Grants Available Has your organization considered partnering on a Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grant project with another eligible applicant? The Minnesota Legislature approved $1.5 million in grant money specifically for partnership projects. Deadlines: March 8, 2010 for pre-applications; April 12, 2010 for final applications. Contact the Grants Office with questions. |

Theodore Roosevelt Exhibit Wadena County Historical Society hosts "Theodore," a biographical exhibit based on the written words of the 26th President of the United States. Exhibit open February 17 through March 2010.
World Fair Exhibit in Stearns County "Centuries of Progress: American World's Fairs, 1853-1982" opens March 1, 2010 at Stearns History Museum in St. Cloud.
Breakfast Club Program Stearns History Museum hosts a program on "Legacies of Faith" on Wednesday March 10, 2010, 9 a.m. John and Robert Roscoe will discuss the history and architecture of Stearns County's Catholic churches. Contact Steven Penick, 320-253-8424, for more information.

Winona County Historical Society continues to make progress on their new addition. Many of you may remember the post from September 2009, showing the beginning of this project. WCHS continues to post webcam photos, updated every 60 seconds, for interested viewers.
Save the date for another point of interest in Winona--the annual Historic Preservation conference hosted by Minnesota Historical Society will take place on September 16 and 17, 2010. |
