Next Fast Track Deadline
The next deadline for Small Grants of $7,000 or less is Friday May 28, 2010.

Input Progress Meetings
One of the items requested by participants at meetings held statewide last summer was an opportunity sometime in Summer 2010 to hear how things went. If you have thoughts on where and when these follow up meetings might occur, please email Matt Hill with your suggestions.

The Way We Played The Game
Ramsey County Historical Society traces the history of Negro Baseball Leagues and African American players from the Twin Cities in their exhibit, "They Played for the Love of the Game - Adding to the Legacy of Black Baseball in Minnesota," at the Landmark Center. Learn more about this legacy at the upcoming panel discussion, "The Way We Played the Game," on April 22, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the Landmark Center.

American Girl Teas
Anoka County Historical Society will host the American Girl Teas, featuring Julie, on April 22, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. and April 24, 2010 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 for adults, $7.00 for children. Pre-registration required.

Prohibition in Pope County
Join the Pope County Historical Society on Saturday April 24, 2010, 2 p.m. for a slightly "tongue-in-cheek" presentation on the 18th Amendment in the words of the Starbuck Times, Glenwood Herald, and Pope County Tribune as they covered the county's heroes and criminals.

Minneapolis in the 20th Century Book Talk
Iric Nathanson will talk about Minneapolis history and his new book, Minneapolis in the 20th Century, on April 27, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Minnepolis Central Library.

Scrapbooking and Crafts Benefit
The White Bear Lake Area Historical Society will host the Scrapbooking and Crafts Club at the White Bear Lake Armory on May 1, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 and include lunch, dinner, snacks and door prizes. All proceeds benefit WBLA Historical Society.

Spring Bonnet Tea
The Mower County Historical Society will be hosting their Spring Bonnet Tea on May 1, 2010 from 1-3 p.m. at the Faith Church Youth Ministry Building in Austin. The event will include a spring style show, hairstyles of yesteryear, and a gardening demonstration.


Family Day at Stearns History Museum

Stearns History Museum will hold "Art Through the Ages Family Day" on May 2, 2010 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The event highlights art and architecture seen in the exhibit, "Centuries of Progress: America's World's Fairs, 1853-1982." Children will also have a chance to create their own art. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 children ages 5-17, children under 5 and members free.


Archaeology identification
Rice County Historical Society will host a Minnesota Archaeology Week event on May 6, 2010, 4-7 p.m., with Bruce Koenen and Dale Maul from the Office of Minnesota Archaelogist to help the public identify archaeological objects. A brief presentation will follow.


Mother’s Day Tea at the Fillebrown House

Invite your favorite “Mom” to the Mother’s Day Tea at the historic Fillebrown House in White Bear Lake on May 8, 2010 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $19 and reservations are required.


(Anti) Wrecking Ball
Preservation Alliance of Minnesota hosts a Ball at the Soap Factory in Minneapolis on Thursday May 20, 2010 to unveil this year's 10 Most Endangered Historic Places. Just $10 general admission.

Preserving the Old Country
The St. Louis County Historical Society's new traveling exhibit, "Preserving the Old Country: The Experiences of Croatians, Serbians, and Slovenians in St. Louis County," is on display at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Hibbing through June 28, 2010. For availability, contact the Society.

Summer History Camps

Rice County Historical Society will offer a week-long history camp for 4th to 6th graders from June 21-25, 2010. Applications online.


Photography of Clay County Exhibit

The Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center presents "Two Photographers: the Works of O.E. Flaten & S.P. Wange." This exhibit features early images of Clay County and Fargo-Moorhead between 1880 and 1940. Exhibit ends June 18, 2010.

Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums and Minnesota's Historic Northwest will host a workshop for small and mid-sized museums on Friday, May 21 at Bemidji State University's Hobson Memorial Union. Minnesota Council of Foundations hosts Grantseeking for Beginners at the Owatonna Country Club, Wednesday May 19, 2010.

Board Development 101
American Association for State and Local History provides an online workshop on basic board development that requires 5-10 hours to complete between May 3 and May 28, 2010.

Basics of Archives
American Association for State and Local History provides an online workshop on The Basics of Archives that requires 15-20 hours to complete between May 24 and June 11, 2010.

Thriving in the New Normal
Minnesota Council of Nonprofits' 2010 leadership conference will be Thursday June 3, 2010, at the McNamara Alumni Center, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.

A Space Odyssey: Storage Strategies for Cultural Collections
Midwest Art Conservation Center will co-host this workshop with the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts in St. Paul MN October 12-13, 2010.
