The next deadline for Small Grants of $7,000 or less is Friday May 28, 2010.

HRAC to Meet
The Historical Resources Advisory Committee will convene on Monday May 24, 2010, at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul at 9 a.m. to consider proposals received by the Minnesota Historical Society on April 12. The meeting is open to the public.

Exhibit Opening
TODAY! The Midwest History class at Concordia College presents the grand opning of its exhibit, "Locally Grown in the 1870s: Probstfield Family Farm," on April 28, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center.

Flintknapping at Pond House

Examine stone tools and throw darts using an atlatl on Sunday May 2, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the historic Pond House. Presented by expert Flintknapper and archeologist Rod Johnson. Suggested donation is $2.


Book Signing and Presentation

Candace Simar, writer and poet from Pequot Lakes MN, will be presenting and signing her book, "Abercrombie Trail," on Friday May 7, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center.


Your Tales of the Road-Hwy 61
Come share your stories and photos of Minnesota's iconic Highway 61 at the Ramsey County Library in White Bear Lake on Monday May 10, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. Free but donations welcome. Presented by the White Bear Reads Program and White Bear Lake Area Historical Society.


Stearns History Museum's Breakfast Club

Alexander Ames, a St. Cloud State University graduate student, will present, "Claiming a Heritage, the Downside of Growth," at the Stearns History Museum Breakfast Club on May 12, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Non-members are $5, members are free.


Archaeological Understanding of Pond Dakota Mission Park

Steven J. Blondo will present a discussion and walking tour of the Pond Dakota Mission Park, highlighting more than four decades of archaeological and historical research on Sunday May 16 at 2:00 p.m. Suggested donation is $2.


New exhibit in Anoka
Join the Anoka County Historical Society on Tuesday May 18, 2010, to open its new exhibit, "Safe for Democracy," 7 p.m. Free.

Preserving the Old Country
The St. Louis County Historical Society's new traveling exhibit, "Preserving the Old Country: The Experiences of Croatians, Serbians, and Slovenians in St. Louis County," is on display at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Hibbing through June 28, 2010. For availability, contact the Society.

Old Tyme Country School

Kanabec History Center will again offer three one-week sessions of Old Tyme Country School this July and August for students grades 1 through 8. Registration forms available online.

Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums and Minnesota's Historic Northwest will host a workshop for small and mid-sized museums on Friday May 21, 2010.
