The St. Croix Base Ball Club will begin its season in Lake St. Croix Beach MN at Pettit Park against the Afton Red Socks on Sunday May 16, 2010, 2 p.m. The club plays by 1860s rules and is a program of the Washington County Historical Society. Free.

Upcoming Deaccessions
The History Center at Olmstead County is undertaking a collections management project that will include the deaccessioning of items from the collection. Institutions will have the opportunity to request items from the deaccession list. The list will be available online on May 15, 2010. Use the Login ID: Burt Eaton and password: Curator.
"Preserving the American Historical Record Act"
Read about this new legislation, introduced on May 3, 2010 in the U.S. Senate to support archives and the preservation of historical records at the state and local level. Vickie Wendel, program manager at the Anoka County Historical Society, visited Washington DC to conduct research at the National Archives and at the Daughters of the American Revolution research library. While there, she attended a new Civil War sesquicentennial exhibit. Sometimes local historians must travel long distances to discover something about local history. |
