Legacy Amendment Update

Next Fast Track Deadline
The next deadline for Small Grants of $7,000 or less is Friday June 25, 2010.

New Structured Options Added
Two new structured options have been added for FY 2011 Fast Track grants: StEPs and General Conservation Assessment with Long Range Plan. Take advantage of these new tools to improve your organization.

Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund Celebration
Minnesota Association of Museums invites museum professionals to the "Summit at Summit (Brewery)" (Summit Brewery) on June 3, 2010, 6 to 9 p.m. for an Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund Celebration. Listen to brief presentations by representatives of funding agencies, followed by a moderated discussion and hors d'oeuvres. MAM members free, non-members $10. Registration required.

Statewide Input Meetings
Minnesota History Coalition seeks your ideas on future history funding as the Coalition prepares for the next round of legislative appropriations from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. RSVP or contact John Fulton at 651-259-3467.

Ghosts of Anoka Tours
The Ghosts of Anoka Tours, offered by the Anoka County Historical Society, will be offered the first and third Thursdays and Saturdays in June. All tours begin at the Anoka County History Center at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children. Contact Maria King at 763-421-0600 for tickets.

Ellis Island Portraits Exhibit
The Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center welcomes the traveling exhibit, "Augustus Frederick Sherman: Ellis Island Portraits, 1905-1920," from June 4 through September 12, 2010. Sherman, an immigration agent, captured images of new immigrants entering the United States through Ellis Island. Rice Park Tour

RCHS Research Center Opening
Explore the spacious new Ramsey County Historical Society Research Center at the Grand Opening Reception on Thursday June 10, 2010 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Landmark Center in St. Paul MN. Tour the archival collections storage room, learn document preservation techniques and enjoy light refreshments. Free, but reservations required by June 8. Call 651-222-0701 for reservations.

Museum Re-Dedication
The Grant County Historical Society in Elbow Lake MN will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its museum with a re-dedication program on Saturday June 12, 2010 at 1 p.m. The program, featuring speaker David Grabitske, will be held at the Sanford Room at the Elbow Lake Community Building. Austin Family Fun Day
Mower County Historical Society, Hormel Historic Home, Historic Paramount Theatre, and SPAM Museum will participate in this first annual event on Saturday June 12, 2010, beginning at 9 a.m. Admission to all venues is free for the event.

Join Stearns History Museum on Saturday June 12, 2010, for its barbecue fundraiser featuring Pan Automobiles.

History in a Pint
Veterans' Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society, announces the third installment of the local history lecture series, "History in a Pint." Join them at Carmody's Irish Pub in Duluth MN on Tuesday June 15, 2010 at 6 p.m. to listen to Charlie B. Wolden, a Vietnam War veteran. Free. Contact Dan Hartman for more information.

Free Admission to Dakota County Historical Society
The Dakota County Historical Society in South St. Paul MN will participate in Blue Star Museums, a national partnership to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day to Labor Day 2010. Free admission will run through Labor Day.

Minnesota Council of Nonprofits will hold this conference at University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis on July 20, 2010. Check out the sessions.

AASLH Annual Conference
American Association for State and Local History annual meeting and conference registration is now open. The meeting is in Oklahoma City, September 22-25, 2010.

Cultural Collections Workshop
Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts, in partnership with Midwest Art Conservation Center, will present "A Space Odyssey: Storage Strategies for Cultural Collections" in St. Paul MN on October 12-13, 2010.

CAP awards announced
Heritage Preservation announced the 2010 recipients of Conservation Assessment Program grants, which includes four Minnesota institutions.

Oil Spill Disaster Response
National Park Service posted information about cultural and natural resources potentially affected by the Gulf oil spill. See also maps of potentially affected resources.
