New Prices for Microfilm
The Minnesota Historical Society recently raised prices on microfilm copies. The new prices are $60 for black and white microfilm reels and $75 for silver negative reels. MHS members still receive a 10 percent discount on their orders. These changes will take effect for Structured Grants beginning with the June grants cycle. Contact Bob Horton at 651-259-3240 with questions.

Next Fast Track Deadline
The next deadline for Small Grants of $7,000 or less is Friday June 25, 2010.

Scott County Exhibit Opening
Scott County Historical Society will open its newest exhibit, "Great Scott! Mysteries of Scott County" on Thursday June 17, 2010. Michael Norman, author of "Nearly Departed: Minnesota Ghost Stories and Legends," will speak at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 students, SCHS members free.

Behind the Scenes Tour
Explore the nooks and crannies of the Scott County Historical Society on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Stans Museum and House on Tuesday June 22, 2010, 7 p.m. Tickets are $8, $5 for SCHS members. Register online or call 952-445-0378 for more information.

We Played with the Boys
Ramsey County Historical Society continues to trace the history of Negro Baseball Leagues and local African American baseball players in its third panel discussion, "We Played with the Boys." Discussion will be held on Thursday June 24, 2010, 6:30 p.m. at the Landmark Center in St. Paul MN. Free.

3rd Annual Beer Tasting
Raise your glass in support of the Washington County Historical Society at the third annual Beer Tasting on Saturday June 26, 2010, 4-7 p.m. at the Hay Lake Museum Complex in Scandia MN. Doug Hoverson, author of "Land of Amber Waters," will speak about the history of brewing in Minnesota. Tickets are $10, ages 21 and over. Contact WCHS at 651-439-5956 for more information.

Chatfield Boys at Fort Ridgely
Civil War historian Roger Breckenridge will share his research and stories of the Chatfield Boys of Company B of the Fifth Minnesota on July 4, 2010, 1:30 p.m. Program will be held at the commissary building at Fort Ridgely Historic Site. Refreshments provided. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for children and seniors, 5 and under free.

Dig LeDuc
Children ages 13-18 can be archaeologists for a day as they help the Dakota County Historical Society dig up the history of Hastings and the LeDuc family at Dig LeDuc. The day camp will be held July 8 and 9, 2010, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Register online or call LeDuc Historic Estate at 651-437-7055 for more information.

National Embroidery Competition
The Dakota County Historical Society and LeDuc Historic Estate will hold a juried arts competition based on embroidery designs from the Hastings Needle Work Company. Twenty-one patterns, designed by Florence and Alice LeDuc, have been selected for the competition. Deadline for entry applications is March 31, 2011.
