Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants

Final Reports
Grantees must file final reports for their grant projects within thirty days of the project end date. An interactive final report form is available online. Remember to include any materials that will help the reviewers evaluate the project--treatment reports, long term planning documents, photographs, etc. The final report and all attachments can be submitted via the Drop Box. Contact the Grants Office with questions.

Grace List Part 2 (new post) - The IRS responded to requests to extend the grace period from a May 15 deadline to October 1 as the nonprofit world transitions to all organizations needing to report annually. Has your organization filed your 990? There are still about 5,000 organizations in Minnesota that are at risk of losing nonprofit status for failing to file.

Preservation Alliance of Minnesota is holding an open house at the historic Hewson House, Minneapolis, on September 9, 2010, 5 to 7 p.m. Whittier residents, businesses, property owners, and PAM members are invited to see firsthand the pre-restoration condition of this 1905 home, one of PAM's 2010 Most Endangered Historic Places. St. Cloud History Book
Local author Harold Zosel recently published "St. Cloud," the latest title in Arcadia Publishing's Postcard History Series. Available at Stearns History Center.

History in 90 Seconds
"MN90: Minnesota History in 90 Seconds" is a partnership between Minnesota Historical Society and Ampers, a statewide network of independent public radio stations. It is designed to educate listeners about Minnesota history and its relevance to current life in the state. The radio spots will air between August 30, 2010 and June 30, 2011.

Self-Assessment Tool Available
AvSAP, Audiovisual Self-Assessment Program, is now available free of charge. The goal of the assessment tool is to help collections managers develop a prioritized preservation plan for their audiovisual materials.

Section 106 Review
Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has published a new edition of "A Citizen's Guide to Section 106 Review."
