Mid/Large Grant Deadline

The deadline for mid and large Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants pre-applications is this Friday August 2, 2013. Applications must be submitted before midnight on Friday to be considered for review. Final applications will be due Friday September 27, 2013. Questions? Contact the Grants Office, 651-259-3467.


Spotlighted Project: Gladstone Railroad Shops Geophysical Investigation

Recipient: City of Maplewood
Funding Amount: $6,800
This project conducted a ground-penetrating radar archeological survey of the ruins of the Gladstone Railroad Shops, an early and significant industrial landmark in Maplewood's history.

MAP-21 Information
Federal Highway Administration has provided general guidance for implementing and administering the Federal Lands Access Program (Access Program) of the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21)


Federal Lands Access Program
Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP), a new program created under the "Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act" (MAP-21), provides funds for projects on Federal Lands access transportation facilities that are located on, adjacent to, or that provide access to Federal Lands. 
Deadline for applications: September 30, 2013.


EMT Grants

Explore Minnesota Tourism (EMT) grant guidelines for 2014 grants are now available. The program offers grants to assist communities and scenic byway organizations in attracting travelers to Minnesota. Deadline: October 15, 2013.





Disaster Assistance
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued a disaster declaration for emergency work and repair/replacement of public facilities. Contact your county emergency manager for more information. Read Governor Dayton's press release for information specific to Minnesota. Applicant briefings will be held the week of August 5, 2013.

Field Note



Richfield Historical Society, Richfield MN, threw a party to celebrate the opening of their new exhibit room, complete with live music, croquet, a picnic, and a Buster Keaton silent movie projected on the side of the Bartholomew House.
