Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants

 

Grants Workshops

In anticipation of legislative funding for the next biennium, the Grants Office has scheduled several Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants training sessions this spring.  

 

Spotlighted Project: Quatrefoil Library Collections Preservation Project

 

Recipient: Quatrefoil Library

Funding Amount: $6,264
 

This grant helped Quatrefoil Library meet archival storage guidelines through proper storage and preservation for a significant collection of LGBT materials. In addition to the physical moving of the periodicals,  community outreach was also done through a presentation at professional conferences and the creation of a project blog.

Oral History Tidbit: Minneapolis Commercial Redevelopment with George Kissinger Part 1

In this first video clip, George describes the local government’s role in creating a large tax increment financing district to facilitate redevelopment of entire blocks which now contain City Center, Gaviidae Common, and the Block E complex.  Community pressure to rid downtown of the seedy influence of degraded properties and bars prompted city officials to get involved.
