Field Note

The school tour season at Minnesota local history organizations is in full swing now through the end of the school year. While most history organizations provide tours of exhibits in their museums like this one at the Otter Tail County Historical Society, Fergus Falls MN, there is a wide variety of school tours practiced across the state.

Some have trained older K-12 students to provide lessons and experiences for younger students, some provide in-depth programs based on research libraries, some take programs to schools, and more. The common thread is that history organizations provide their services in keeping with the needs of their audiences.

Good work, everyone! The busy school tour season will wind down in most places soon, giving way to the equally demanding summer tourist season.
