Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants

 

Small Grants

Applicants to the January 2014 small grants round of Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants program will receive feedback on their proposals in mid- to late February. Looking ahead, the next small grants deadline will be Friday April 11, 2014. Contact the Grants Office with questions. 

 

Spotlighted Project: Dakota History Program: Elders, Guardians of our Future

In an effort to carry out the Park Board's recommendations to recognize Indian Heights Park as a sacred Dakota site and to obtain an accurate account of Dakota history, GRADS members contacted four Dakota Elders from the last known Dakota bands in the SE MN area (Rochester) to learn of our history.
 
Recipient: Rochester Park and Recreation Dept.
Funding Amount: $3,800
 

 

 

Heritage Partnership Program

 

Partnership Grants

Pre-applications to the Heritage Partnership Program are starting the review process. Applicants will receive feedback via email on their proposals in time to revise and complete final applications by the March 7, 2014 deadline. Organizations must have completed and submitted a pre-application in order to be eligible for the final application process. Contact the Grants Office with questions.

 

Spotlighted Project: Northfield History Collaborative

The Northfield Historical Society spearheaded this project, which includes creating a central web site portal through which historical content from the community of Northfield can be shared with the public. The ACHF funding is being used to establish a governance and financial model for the Northfield History Collaborative, add new partners and continue digitizing and adding content from new and current partners to the Collaborative site. The Collaborative has also expanded its digitizing efforts to include audio and visual media and plans to orchestrate a community rollout of the web site in 2011. 
 
Partner Organizations: Northfield Historical Society, Carleton College, Northfield Public Library, Rice County Historical Society and St. Olaf College.
Funding Amount:  $43,950

Apply now to host a 2014 Bikeable Community Workshop. Participants go on a short bike ride to assess the community's bicycle facilities and create a subsequent action plan. Sounds like a great way to see some historic sites along the way!
