The Leadership in History Awards program was established to encourage standards of excellence in the collection, preservation, and interpretation of state and local history in order to make the past more meaningful to all Americans. By publicly recognizing superior and innovative achievements, the Leadership in History Awards serve as an inspiration to others
Applicants can self-nominate or nominate another project. Deadline for nominations is March 1, 2014.

Heritage Partnership Program
The goal of the Heritage Partnership Program is to build the capacity of eligible applicants to preserve and enhance access to Minnesota’s history and cultural resources by supporting the creation and development of sustainable, history-based partnerships throughout the state. Small Grants Deadline
The next small grants deadline for the Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants program is Friday January 10, 2014. Contact the Grants Office with questions.
MHCHG grants are available for scholarships to send up to two organization members to attend the AASLH Annual Meeting in Saint Paul.
NOTE: This scholarship will only be available for the January 10 and April 11, 2014 deadlines.

The grant supported the conservation and treatment of the historic murals in the Rathskeller in New Ulm Turner Hall, listed in the National Register of Historic Places

An interesting article featuring Cambridge's American Legion Post 290 made the front page of Sunday's Star Tribune
. The article focuses on Minnesota's VFWs and American Legions that are increasingly selling off their meeting halls as members age and die.
