Civil War Commemorations
Governor's Civil War Commemorative Task Force will dedicate Memorial Day this year to the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg and the historic contribution of Minnesota's soldiers. Events begin Friday May 24, 2013. Check their website or the Minnesota Civil War 150 Facebook page for more information.


Passport Program
Goodhue County Historical Society, Red Wing MN, announces the return of the Goodhue County Passport this summer. Visit all 9 historical sites between May 25 and September 2, 2013, have your passport stamped, and leave it at the last site visited to be entered into the grand prize drawing. American Alliance of Museums is preparing to host a briefing on Capitol Hill about the ways museums are engaged in health care, defined broadly. If your historical organization has developed community partnerships to address health-related issues, please email Auntaneshia Staveloz, State and Community Partnerships Manager, to share your programs.

Blue Star Museums
Many Minnesota historical organizations are taking part in the Blue Star Museums program, a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, Department of Defense, and more than 1800 museums across the country. 


Participating museums offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2013. To participate, contact Blue Star Museums or Wendy Clark, 202-682-5451.
