Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants

Upcoming Grant Deadline

Pre-applications for the mid/large grant round (requests over $10,000) for the Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants program will be due Friday May 2, 2014. Pre-applications are a required part of the mid/large application process. If you have any questions, contact the Grants Office

Spotlighted Project: Mitchell Saloon Structural Analysis

The grant helped hire an engineering firm to conduct a structural assessment of the Mitchell Saloon, Wykoff, MN.
The Wykoff Area Historical Society (WAHS) Executive Board of Directors (which manages Ed's Museum) had concerns about the condition and longevity of the structure that houses Ed's collection, and is itself part of the collection. In 2010, a Historic Structure Report (HSR) was done on the building. The most important and urgent need identified in the HSR was the condition of the structure; specifically the current beams and bracing. In order to continue to operate tours in this two-story 1876 wood structure, the report stressed the urgency of getting a structural engineer's evaluation of the building's current load-bearing capacity and to determine how best to improve its capacity.
Recipient: City of Wykoff
Funding Amount: $6,500
