Great Opportunity to Film WWII Veterans for Your 2007 "Moving Pictures" Short Documentary

Attention 2007 “Moving Pictures” filmmakers: Is your film subject a World War II veteran? If so, we encourage you to attend the World War II Memorial Dedication Ceremony. The event will provide a great opportunity to document on film the experience of your film subject at an event honoring the sacrifices they made to help win the war.

"Moving Pictures" and Twin Cities Public Television Form Partnership

MN Channel TPT

The new Ken Burns documentary television series, The War, is a seven-part, 14-hour exploration of the history and the horror of the Second World War from an American perspective. The film is told through the experiences of men and women from four American towns--one of them being Luverne, Minnesota.

In conjunction with the upcoming Ken Burns documentary, the Minnesota Historical Society and Twin Cities Public Television (tpt) are pleased to announce a partnership in the 2007 “Moving Pictures” Film Festival. Together, we are looking for filmmakers to help tell the Minnesota story of World War II and how it affected Minnesotans both at home and abroad.

2007 “Moving Pictures” filmmakers can submit their film early for possible inclusion in the program. If selected, the film will be broadcast on tpt's Minnesota Channel (tpt17) as part of the local programming effort that will surround the premiere of Ken Burns epic series.

To be eligible for this opportunity, the films must be submitted to Randal Dietrich of the Minnesota’s Greatest Generation Project. More details will be included in the next edition of Legacy News.
