Four Partners: Together, we’re making history.
The 1968 Project, led by the Minnesota Historical Society, is the result of a collaborative process with three of the nation’s top historical organizations: the Atlanta History Center, the Chicago History Museum and the Oakland Museum of California. Individually, we’re each a renowned, award-winning institution, and contribute a unique perspective, expertise and catalog of resources. Together, we’re even stronger, creating a richer and more robust exhibit experience and providing the overall project with both regional and national relevance.
1968: The year. The project.
Comedy. Tragedy. A president steps down. A leader’s shot down. Love and hate. Violence on the front lines and on the home front. Graceful athletes meet powerful protests. The promise of law and order. A hope-filled view of heaven and earth. 1968 was erupting with extremes. In one single year we saw it all. Now we can experience it all in one unforgettable exhibit.
