Lizzie's purchases in July--a tack hammer, door hinge, and grindstone--suggest repair work. In August she bought new items for the dining table, including glasses, bowls, spoons, and candlesticks. In September she spent $4.75 on 12 yards of furniture patchwork and a bedspread. In November and December Lizzie repaired the stoves.
