People Track - History Player/Mill Tour

Students interact with real and imagined characters from our past or tour the Washburn A Mill to experience the stories associated with the industries that occupied the riverfront.

Choose the age appropriate lesson. Power Track classes are 40 minutes long.

Choose one lesson:

Berry Wheat Bop, K - 3rd
Through music, movement and interactive play the students follow Berry Wheat on a journey from the fields of a Bonanza farm to the mills of Minneapolis. Students learn the many steps needed to bring bread to their tables.

Bonanza Farm, 4th - 6th
Students meet 1880's pioneer Mary Dodge Woodward. They learn about what life was like on a 1,500-acre farm from primary resources and artifacts. Through their research they will help Mary solve a dilemma concerning her life on the farm.

The Falls Guy, 4th - 12th
An Austrian born engineer, William de la Barre, engages students in discovering what brought him to Minneapolis, the building of the Washburn A Mill and his lifelong career at St. Anthony Falls.

'Round The Mills, 4th - 12th
A guide will lead your group "behind the scenes" of the Washburn A Mill - once the largest flour mill in the world. The dormant mill springs to life through accounts of its people, power and machines.
