Photo of man calling for dinner. The Forest History Center loves group tours. Bus tours have arrived at the Center from all over the Midwest and the East and West Coasts in the U.S. and from other countries including Finland, Norway, Sweden and Japan. The Center has served thousands of seniors and families on bus tours over the years. For a general description of the Center's tour program, please click on the "Visiting" button. For more detailed information about Bus Tours, continue below.

Please plan about 1 ½ - 2 hours for your group's visit. Our tour format is flexible and can be adjusted to meet your needs.

As buses arrive at the Center's Interpretive Building, a staff member offers a short welcome and facility introduction. Groups are then invited to start the visit at the Interpretive Building which includes an introductory video, exhibits, gift shop and restrooms.

Next, your group is provided a special, private tour conducted by a costumed tour guide/interpreter to the 1900 Logging Camp. Lumberjacks, cooks and other men and women of the North Woods will entertain with stories, tall tales and music, as well as with a little teaching about life 100 years ago.

At your request, the Center staff can bundle any purchases made by your group and have them brought to the bus while you tour. Hands should be free because visitors are often asked to pitch in! Staff also will assist your coach driver in parking the bus in a special "bus only" parking area just a few feet from the Logging Camp. Your travelers won't need to walk back to the Interpretive Building after visiting the camp.

Time for more adventure? A visit can include a stop at the 1901 River Wanigan and 1934 Forest Patrolman's Station. No problem-just let us know. (More detailed information on these features can be found by clicking on the "Families & Individuals" button."

Just let us know if some of your group have limited mobility or simply may not wish to leave the air conditioned Interpretive Building. The Center has a full-length video of the entire Forest History Center tour on tape. We'll see that they have a wonderful experience.

The Center provides complimentary passes for the tour leader and motor coach driver. For arranging one-four day itinerary tours complete with accommodations or multi-northern Minnesota city programs, the Grand Rapids Convention and Visitor Bureau will be happy to help. Just see our hot link to the GRCVB site!

We mean it when we say, "We Love Group Tours!"
