Two and a half miles of trails wind through all of the forest types found in northern Minnesota. You can see aspen stands, hardwoods, old-growth pine, a pure stand of red pine (the state tree), and view plantation and genetically improved tree stands. Another trail allows you to travel through a cedar and black spruce swamp and a tamarack bog-all with dry feet on an elevated gravel trail or a board walk. Along the River Trail, learn how to identify Minnesota's trees through informational signposts and a brochure and you'll also get glimpses of the Mississippi River.
