Historic Forestville is located in Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park.

Visitors enter the park and pay for a State Park vehicle permit at the DNR contact station. Visitors will then drive about three quarters of a mile to the Historic Forestville parking lot, located south of the river and historic site. An interpretive kiosk is located in the parking lot; visitors will then cross the 1899 iron bridge and purchase admission tickets at the Historic Forestville visitor center prior to beginning their living history tour experience. For more specifics, see the directions below.

In addition to regular programming, the site offers several special events during its season. Some of the larger events are Independence Day event, an Evening of Leisure program, and an 1899 Harvest Day event.
