Historic Forestville's Photographic Past

The process of photography had been around almost 30 years when Forestville began to decline in the late 1860s. Unfortunately, the earliest known photographic images of the town date from 1897, long after its decline. Forestville had been a prosperous little town in the early 1850s, and the images that survive provide historians with details needed to understand and reconstruct the town's historical record.
