Special Programs
Jeffers Petroglyphs has programs available during the summer to highlight special features of the site:
Guided Tours
Site staff are always available to interpret the site and help visitors as
they explore the carvings.
Bringing Light to the Petroglyphs
Daily at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Using mirrors to capture light greatly enhances a visitor’s ability to view the Petroglyphs. On sunny days, a site guide will manipulate special tools to give the illusion of late day light angles and give background about the importance and meaning of the petroglyphs. Tours will take place each day that the site is open to the public sunny or cloudy (but not during a thunderstorm with lightning).
Adventures in Nature
Daily programs in the summer at 2 p.m. that explore Native American culture, prairies or archaeology. These programs are designed for all ages. Check the calendar for specific program the day of your visit.
Special Events
A variety of special events are scheduled on some weekends throughout the summer. Events include the popular "Starry Night, Prairie Night" and butterfly day.
