Volunteer at the North West Company Fur Post!
All of volunteers should be:
- Pleasant, dependable, reliable.
- Physically able to work with high volume of people.
- Provide gracious hospitality to all our guests.
- Ready to have fun.
Activity Assistant
Duties: Assist students, parents and children with hands-on activities relating to site history.
Specific dates and Activities:
- May 16th - making Militia Hats during the War of 1812 event.
- May 30th - rigging cane poles during Historic Fishing
- August 15th – assist in various activities at Children’s Day event.
Gardener
Duties: Assists with all phases of indoor/outdoor gardening including mulching, propagation, transplanting, mulching, weeding, watering, and harvesting.
Qualifications: Basic horticulture knowledge; hands-on gardening experience; interest in the stewardship of the county's natural and cultural resources.
Availability: Flexible hours.
Visitor Services Aide
Greet and assist visitors by providing them with information and directions to the site, exhibits, museum store and restrooms.
Volunteer Interpreters
Volunteer interpreters play a variety of roles at the fur post. From participating in the theatrical performances of candlelight tours and the mystery at the post programs; to demonstrating historic crafts; to monitoring the line for dog sled rides. All of which are important role that make events happen.
Exhibit Host
Greet visitors in exhibits; answer questions and monitor hands-on activity stations.
