Farm Trails

Printable trails page with details for each trail.

The Farm Trail is 0.8 mile long and is wheelchair accessible. It is marked with signs that tell the story of pioneer farming and its impact on the land.

The River and Woodland Trail heads upstream along the Mississippi River before running into the old oak woods. Walk quietly and watch for white-tailed deer and any of dozens of varieties of songbirds. This trail is 1.1 miles long.

The Prairie Trail meanders for 0.8 mile through the restored prairie and abandoned farm fields. Most of this area was prairie with small clumps of oak trees when farmers like Kelley arrived in the 1850s.

Drawing of the Kelley farm trails map

The Kelley Farm trails wind along the Mississippi River and through woodlands and restored prairie. The trails are well-marked, level and provide an opportunity to see some of the same types of wildlife and plants as the Kelleys saw. The limestone path from the Visitor Center leads to the farm trails.
