Our youngest visitors are introduced to agriculture and farm life in the 19th century. The activities help students learn such basic concepts as farm work, where food comes from, and why animals live on a farm.

Reservation Information
Call or e-mail any time to reserve your field trip to the Kelley Farm. We recommend you call well in advance if you have specific dates for your field trip.

Early elementary students experience the work roles of each family member. Using a variety of chores, students learn how each family member contributed to the general welfare of the family and the success of the farm.


School Tour Season
The Kelley Farm is open for reserved field trips from April 16 through Oct. 31 each year.

Hours of Operation
Our educational programs run up to two hours, but can be adjusted for bus and school schedules. Field trips are scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily.

Upper-elementary students learn the integral role of farm animals in early Minnesota agriculture. Student activities focus on farm animals providing work, food and byproducts.


Group Size
We can accommodate groups ranging from a minimum of 10 students to a maximum of five classes or about 125 students for each program. Large groups are divided into classroom-sized groups for the farm tour.

Cost
Admission is $5 each for students and adults in educational groups. There is a $50 minimum charge (10 student minimum) for school tour and program. Teachers and school staff are admitted free.

Students explore the dramatic changes taking place in mid-19th century agriculture. Through hands on activities students learn how the transition from subsistence to market farming brought farmers together to form organizations like the Grange.
Accessibility
The Kelley Farm is accessible to all students and visitors and is ADA compliant. Wheelchairs may be reserved at the farm and sign language interpreters will be provided upon request. Please provide three weeks notice to arrange for a sign language interpreter.

Home school groups learn about historic methods of food production and preservation, farming methods, and the care and use of livestock and draft animals. This program stresses Minnesota's agricultural traditions with activities designed for all ages of home school students.
Special Tours
The Kelley Farm offers tours on a variety of different themes and activities to meet the needs and learning objectives of high school, college and adult learners.
