100 Per Cent Vaccination

Responsibility for continuance of
smallpox in the Twin Cities was placed
today upon the "22,000 to 28,000 resi-
dents unvaccinated person" in Min-
neapolis and St. Paul, in a formal report
perpared by Dr. C.C. Pierce, senior
surgeon of the United State Public
Health Service. His survey of the sit-
uation concluded, Dr. Pierce left for
Chicago.
Drastic measures to convince the small
unvaccinated minority of the need of
immediate vaccination were recommend-
ed by Dr. Pierce with the apporival of
Dr. F.E. Harrington, Minneapolis
health commissioner, and Dr. B.F. Simon,
St. Paul health commissioner, and Dr.
A.J. Chesley, executive secretary of
the state board of health. The rec-
ommendations were presented to the
Minneapolis board of public welfare, and
to a conference of Twin City health
authorities and representative citizens
at the Mens Union, University of Min-
nesota.
