Organizing Your Research
Annotated Bibliography Cards

A good organizational scheme is very important during the research phase of your History Day project. Sound organization of your research will save you time, assist you in developing and refining your project's outline, and point out connections between themes and ideas you might otherwise miss. Many scholars use note cards to keep track of their sources (bibliography cards) and their notes (note cards) while conducting research for their projects. Review the example bibliography card below and click on the Friendly Notepad to the right to find out how to "build" bibliography entries and note cards. Friendly Notepad

Northern States Power Company: Report for the Year Ended, December 31, 1933. By Robert F. Pack, President. 1934.
The NSP 1933 Annual report illustrates the impact the Depression had on this Minnesota company. NSP profits were down in all lines of business - net earnings were down 8.21% (or $1,308,894.39) from 1932. The report shows that the company is hopeful that the relief efforts undertaken by the Federal Gov. will improve conditions in 1934. It is also worried about competing with gov-owned projects.
