Maud Hart Lovelace
(1892-1980)
Maud Hart Lovelace grew up in Mankato. As a young girl, she kept diaries and scrapbooks that later helped her to write the Betsy-Tacy books for which she is best known. Maud also wrote several historical novels, including Early Candlelight, about life at Fort Snelling, and Gentlemen from England, which she wrote with her husband, Delos Lovelace.
