Virginia Mae Hope
(1921-1944)
Virginia Mae Hope, a native of Winnebago Minnesota, was a member of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) during WWII. WASP flew planes and performed wartime duties in the United States, thus freeing male pilots for combat. In 1977 Congress recognized the WASP as military pilots and granted then veteran status.
