(1786-1859)
George Nelson was a clerk with three different fur trade companies-
the XY, the Hudson's Bay and the North West companies- from
1802 to 1823.
During this time, he carefully recorded
the daily work and life of the fur trade. His writings have
helped us learn about the fur trade and the importance of wild
rice in its operation.
