Transcription: UNVACCINATED FEW CAN END SMALLPOX, SAYS U.S. SURGEON Senior Health Service Physician Closes Twin City Survey, Leaves for Chicago PUTS BLAME ON 22,000 TO 28,000 UNPROTECTED Dr. Pierce Reviews Situation, Recommends Steps to Hasten 100 Per Cent Vaccination Responsibility for continuance Repeated cases. of smallpox in the Twin Cities was placed today upon the "22,000 to 28,000 residents unvaccinated person" in Minneapolis and St. Paul, in a formal report perpared by Dr. C.C. Pierce, senior surgeon of the United State Public Health Service. His survey of the situation concluded, Dr. Pierce left for Chicago. Drastic measures to convince the small unvaccinated minority of the need of immediate vaccination were recommended by Dr. Pierce with the apporival of Dr. F.E. Harrington, Minneapolis health commissioner, and Dr. B.F. Simon, St. Paul health commissioner, and Dr. A.J. Chesley, executive secretary of the state board of health. The recommendations were presented to the Minneapolis board of public welfare, and to a conference of Twin City health authorities and representative citizens at the Mens Union, A building on the campus.
