The Strike of 1916
Title: Miners Denied Charity
Transcription: VIRGINIA REFUSES CHARITY TO MINERS VIRGINIA, June 24.—Striking miners will not receive aid from the Virginia Associated Charities, according to a decision which has been made by a number of the officers of the association. Two strikers are said to have applied to the organization for help, but were refused. Charity officials believe that the men should work. Strike leaders, however, deny that any of their members are in need of assistance from the charities and state that they are able to provide the strikers with all necessaries. Needed supplies. |
