State Grants
These two grant programs, funded by the Minnesota
Legislature, support historic preservation, interpretation,
and capital projects undertaken by history organizations
and units of government.
Individuals are
not eligible.
State Grants-in-Aid
A variety of projects qualify for these matching grants to organizations and institutions that interpret and preserve Minnesota's history. Primary recipients are regional, county, and local nonprofit organizations.

State Capital Project Grants-in-Aid
Capital projects for historic preservation of publicly owned and used buildings are eligible for these matching grants. Primary recipients are public entities as defined by state law, including county and local jurisdictions. Nonprofit history organizations that occupy a building owned by a public entity also may apply.
