Gain digital humanities publishing credits. Become familiar with MNHS library collections and Minnesota history.
Join a team of researchers and writers to create historical content for the MNopedia website, the definitive online encyclopedia of Minnesota history. Work with staff to choose your Minnesota history topics, conduct research in the Minnesota Historical Society's reference library and other resources, and write at least four original articles during the year based on that research.
Following a mandatory group training session on March 1, 9am - noon, volunteers can work a flexible schedule, but will need to be available for 5-8 hours per week on an ongoing basis. Commit to a minimum of one year with a production goal of at least four articles per year.
- Excellent research skills and attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. A five-page writing sample with end notes or foot notes is required to be considered for this position.
