Civil War soldier's handmade suit
This suit was handmade by Union soldier Orange S. King of Company D, First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry. It is a coarse white cotton that supposedly came from a sheet of muslin upon which King's comrade died at Libby Prison in Richmond, Virginia. King was captured at the Battle of Bull Run where the First Minnesota had the highest number of casualties of any Union Regiment. King received a bayonet wound to the eye.
